Relocating international assignees is an investment. Set them up for success in their new assignment with cross-cultural training. Many international assignees do not realize the importance of cross-cultural training until they participate in a program. They see the benefit immediately as they increase their perceptual acuity and the ability to accurately perceive one’s own behaviors and work style preferences. Providing cultural training, coaching, and competency assessment enables global professionals to increase their ability to adapt, be effective in their new role, and quickly become an asset to their team and your organization.

Program Solutions

CAI’s programs assist the assignee and family in making a smooth transition, gaining the most from the assignment, and succeeding in their new roles.

Living and Working

CAI’s Living and Working programs are interactive training sessions for global relocation. Our customized programs focus on the cultural differences between home and host countries, targeting communication, social interactions, business culture, as well as business ethics and protocol that build critical skills for an employee’s success. We recommend that the assignee and the family participate in this program for maximum success.

Youth Abroad™ / Teen Abroad™

Helping children adapt to an unfamiliar environment is an integral part of your employees’ successful adjustment to their new country. Designed specifically for children, the program addresses crucial country and cultural information to mitigate concern about the move and help in the adaptation process. Expectations and concerns, such as daily life, schooling, etc. are explored with the children through an interactive, age-appropriate program complete with games, videos, a personalized children’s manual, and other relevant materials.

Cultural Support

For employees with limited time or budget, this 2-hour virtual session provides a high-level overview of the host location. Employees are connected to one of CAI‘s experts who specifically addresses any questions or concerns about their upcoming trip/relocation while reviewing their objectives and offering guidance on cultural friction points that may not be anticipated.

Global Leader

This high impact session prepares your global leader to succeed in their role and explores how they can adapt their leadership style and approach to lead effectively and execute key business objectives. Topics may include exploring cultural values and expectations, communicating effectively, giving feedback and managing cultural conflict, etc. Executives will further explore diversity, equity, and inclusion its importance in their role as a leader. Your global leader will leave the program with an action plan to ensure sustainable success in their assignment.

Coaching

Cultural competency development is a process not an event. Executives, managers and individual contributors may need on-going support in order to build a repertoire of skills and solutions for addressing cross-cultural business challenges as they arise. CAI recommends coaching for those individuals or managers requiring additional developmental support, or those grappling with critical potential challenges professionally or personally that may adversely impact success.

Coming Home™

Coming back home is not as easy as it sounds. This program focuses on helping individuals and their families adjust to reverse-culture shock and manage some of the confusion and anxiety that is experienced upon repatriation. Companies invest in these programs to reduce the productivity loss that naturally occurs when people repatriate and to harness the international expertise learned on assignment.
